Volunteer Spotlight

  Jordan Aiken & Jimmy Chang

Jordan Aiken, a senior at University of California Berkeley, contacted us
after her first trip to South Africa, where she led theater projects in
townships near Cape Town.  It wasn't long before she had organized a
beadwork sale and built a network of supportive classmates.  This month,
thanks to Jordan's initiative, Art Aids Art was officially added to Berkeley's
  roster of student clubs.

Jimmy Chang, also a Berkeley student, didn't know Jordan at the time he
offered his support as an Art Aids Art volunteer.  The two began planning
activities shortly after we introduced them, and last month jointly staffed
Art Aids Art's booth at the Presbyterian Women's Synod.

  Alexandria Garcia & Chris Bostwick

Alexandria Garcia was honored as our 2007 Junior Volunteer of the Year
for her outstanding support of our community events.  A math whiz, Alex
has been particularly helpful with tending our cash register.  We expect to
  see her someday in Khayelitsha.

Chris Bostwick, a student at UC Berkeley, has been a regular volunteer at
Art Aids Art events. Chris was responsible for initiating the connection
between Art Aids Art and jericho!, an improv & sketch comedy group at
Berkeley, which donated proceeds from its entire 2007-2008 season to
support construction of eKhaya eKasi Center.

They are pictured with their recent children's book donations.
